In order to bolster diversity in the advertising and marketing fields, inferno has funded two scholarships awarded to a University of Memphis junior and senior. In the fall of 2008, Thuyvi Vo and Marlon Julius were the inaugural recipients of the inferno advertising/marketing/design Scholarship.

Vo is a junior Marketing major with a minor in nonprofit organization. She interned with and developed a marketing campaign for Spruce interior design. Julius is a senior Marketing Management major, who plans to pursue a career in sports marketing. He has fulfilled an internship at International Paper Company.

The $5,000 in scholarship funds is split between two students majoring in Marketing at the University of Memphis Fogelman College of Business and Economics. Scholarship recipients must have a minimum GPA of 3.25 and be enrolled in at least 12 credits or more. Special consideration is given to candidates who contribute to the diversity that is crucial to the advertising industry and the goals of the University of Memphis Marketing Department.

The scholarship is an extension of inferno’s traditional holiday donation to a local or national nonprofit or cause. “In lieu of a holiday gift, inferno makes a donation that can make a difference to the community on behalf of our clients,” says Dan O’Brien, agency partner. “The challenge for us is defining where we can make the most difference. Supporting diversity in our industry through this gift makes a positive difference in the advertising community and ultimately to the clients we serve”
